When it comes to taking care of your body, your hands may be the last part of your body that comes to mind. However, because your hand is composed of delicate nerves, tendons, bones, and ligaments, they are fairly easy to injure. If you have recently been involved in an accident and your hand was injured, then we at Dominion Plastic Surgery may recommend hand reconstruction surgery.

FAQ 1: What Kinds Of Hand Reconstruction Surgeries Are Offered?

Because your hand is composed of so many different bones, ligaments, tendons, and joints, it makes it one of the most complex parts of your body. Here at our office, we offer patients four different types of hand reconstruction surgeries including surgeries to repair: fingertip injuries, tendon lacerations, hand fractures, and nerve injuries.

FAQ 2: Will I Have A Scar?

Yes, in most instances you will have a scar. The size of your scar, however, will depend on the size and location of your incision. Luckily, your scar should fade with time.

FAQ 3: What Is Recovery Like?

Recovery from your hand reconstruction surgery varies from patient to patient and depends on the type of hand surgery you had. In most instances, patients will have to go to physical therapy to help strengthen their hand or fingers.

FAQ 4: Am I A Good Candidate?

The only real way to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for hand reconstruction surgery is by coming into our office for a consultation. However, any patient with a hand injury is considered to be a good candidate for reconstruction.

If you have recently sustained a hand injury or if you have a hand injury that hasn’t healed on its own, then it may be time to schedule a consultation with our staff at Dominion Plastic Surgery. Call our Falls Church office today to schedule your initial consultation:  (703) 544-8971.
